Ruler and Protractor Tool Don't Appear in Some Assessments

Scenario

The ruler and proctor tools do not display properly in assessments where measurements are required. Teachers should assess student mastery of these concepts by distributing paper versions located on the Teacher Support site.

The following assessment questions have been identified requiring the ruler tool:

  • Grade 2, Unit 3, Lesson 2, Exercise, Questions 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5
  • Grade 2, Unit 3, Lesson 4, Exercise, Questions 2, 3, and 4
  • Grade 2, Unit 3, Lesson 5, Exercise, Questions 2, 3, and 4
  • Grade 2, Unit 3, Lesson 6, Exercise, Question 2

The following assessment questions have been identified requiring the protractor tool:

  • Grade 4, Unit 7, Lesson 7, Exercise, Questions 5 and 6
  • Grade 4, Unit 7, Lesson 8, Exercise, Question 1

Workaround - Ruler Tool

  1. Provide students with the correct answer so they do not lose points when the assessment is graded.
    • Grade 2, Unit 3, Lesson 2, Questions 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5
      • Question 1: D, 4 inches
      • Question 2: 3 inches
      • Question 3: 5 inches
      • Question 4: 2 inches
      • Question 5:
        • Line A: 3 inches

The print questions are not identical to the digital questions, but they are equivalent. They can be used to give students the experience of completing the exercise, while letting the teacher verify, and support, students’ understanding of the concept of ruler measurement.

      • Question 5: 45 degrees
      • Question 6: 15 degrees
    • Grade 4, Unit 7, Lesson 8, Question 1
      • Question 1: Students answers will vary. Students should draw a 75-degree angle, which is close to, but less than, 90 degrees.
  2. Distribute paper versions of the exercises, located on the Grade 4 Unit 7 Unit Resources page of the Teacher Support Site. The print questions are not identical to the digital questions, but they are equivalent. They can be used to give students the experience of completing the exercise, while letting the teacher verify, and support, students’ understanding of the concept of protractor measurement.
