Transfer Learning Catalytics scores

When you create or edit a module, you can request that student scores for the session in which you deliver the module be automatically transferred to the Mastering Gradebook after you stop the session.

1. For Gradebook Transfer, select Send grade data to Mastering.

   

   Note: This option is available only after you have clicked Use with Students to enable Learning Catalytics for your Mastering students.

2. Select whether points will be counted in Mastering for credit or extra credit.
3. [Optional] You can use your selections as the default for all new modules. If you select this option, you can still change the values for any new module.

More about using Gradebook Transfer

• Typically a module is delivered in a single session, but if you deliver a module in more than one session in the same course, scores for each session are transferred separately and appear in separate columns in the Mastering Gradebook .

• Any edits to a Learning Catalytics module's scoring parameters always affect scores for all sessions of that module, even those that have already been delivered in the same Learning Catalytics course. If you don't want to affect scores for sessions already delivered, consider cloning the module within the course. Doing so lets you deliver the same content using separate modules.

• You can edit individual student session scores in the Learning Catalytics Gradebook. Any changes you make are automatically transferred and updated in the Mastering Gradebook .

  Important: If you edit a student's score, that score remains static even if you change participation weighting, credit/extra-credit scoring, or point values in the module.

If scores for a session have already been sent to Mastering, you can remove those scores from the Mastering Gradebook in two ways:

• If the module has been (or will be) delivered in multiple sessions in this course, remove scores for one session by following the steps below. Deleting session data does not affect any other sessions delivered for that same module, but the data is permanently deleted from both Learning Catalytics and Mastering.

  1. In the Mastering Gradebook, click the column head for the Learning Catalytics session for which you want to delete scores.

     Tip: To confirm that you're deleting the correct data, you can point to the column head to see the module title, session ID, and date. Learning Catalytics scores always have a blue column head.

  2. In the Learning Catalytics session review page, click the x Delete data link near the top of the page.

     The session data, including scores if any, are removed permanently from the Learning Catalytics Gradebook, and this change flows automatically to the Mastering Gradebook.

  3. Switch back to the Mastering Gradebook and refresh your browser to see the change.

• If the module has been (or will be) delivered only once in this course, you can also remove scores by clearing the Gradebook Transfer option for the module and clicking Save.

  Important: If you have delivered multiple sessions of the module, this method removes scores for all sessions from Mastering. The scores are preserved in Learning Catalytics, so you can restore them to Mastering by selecting Gradebook Transfer again.

You can edit session scores in the Learning Catalytics Gradebook. All changes you make there are automatically updated in the Mastering Gradebook.

Important: If you edit a session score, that score remains static even if you change participation weighting, credit/extra-credit scoring, or point values in the module.

From the Mastering Gradebook:

• Click the column head for a Learning Catalytics session to open the session's review page. From there you can see all questions and student responses, and you can mark responses correct or incorrect and add comments.
• Click a student's score in a session column to open the Assignment Grade page for that student. From there you can click the linked title of the module/session to open the session's review page (as above). On the Assignment Grade page, you can also exempt the student from the assignment or access the Learning Catalytics Gradebook to edit the student's session score.
• Click a student's name to see the instructor version of that student's Scores page. From there you can click the linked module/session title to see the student's Performance page for all sessions in the Learning Catalytics course.

From the Scores page, students can click a linked module/session title to review questions and answers from the session. (The title is not linked if you have selected Do not allow students to review their performance on this module in the module setup, or if the Allow review after period has not elapsed. You set this review delay period in Learning Catalytics course settings.)
