Edited item content doesn't count
Updated 19 Feb 2024
For continuously adaptive learning, the Pearson adaptive learning engine bases its recommendations for Follow-Up items on a student's responses to publisher items only. Whenever you copy and edit an item, you create a My Item, which does not contribute to the engine's ability to formulate useful, targeted recommendations.
When you first create a Parent assignment, Mastering confirms that it contains at least one qualified publisher item.
- Important: Avoid editing items in a Parent assignment after you've added its Follow-Up. Mastering does not warn you if the number of qualified items drops below the minimum for generating valuable recommendations.
Editing category or assignment settings does not affect item content or interfere with continuously adaptive learning. You can change grading or presentation settings for any category, or for either the Parent assignment or its Adaptive Follow-Up.
