Edited item content doesn't count

Updated 19 Feb 2024

For continuously adaptive learning, the Pearson adaptive learning engine bases its recommendations for Follow-Up items on a student's responses to publisher items only. Whenever you copy and edit an item, you create a none My Item, which does not contribute to the engine's ability to formulate useful, targeted recommendations.

When you first create a Parent assignment, Mastering confirms that it contains at least one qualified publisher item.

  • Important: Avoid editing items in a Parent assignment after you've added its Follow-Up. Mastering does not warn you if the number of qualified items drops below the minimum for generating valuable recommendations.
