Selecting Viewer UI Features

You can select User Interface features for online and offline Viewers using the Select Viewer UI Features link. This link is available when you select online Viewer UI features or when you select offline Viewer features prior to exporting to one of the supported distribution types (CD-ROM, OCAS, or PSN). The following table lists the features you can select from. They are mentioned in four categories:

General Feature Settings

Common for all versions of the Viewer are listed in the following table.

Search box (with Go button)	To search for a term or a phrase in an eText
Show Links by default On	Shows all links in an eText by default
Notes Manager	To enable the Notes Manager in an eText
Keep Left Accordion Open	Displays the left navigation pane in an eText

Toolbar Feature Settings

View selection	To select Whiteboard view
Toolbar selection	To select the location of the Viewer's toolbar (Top or Bottom)
Whiteboard Toolbar selection	To select the Whiteboard toolbar location (Left, Right or Bottom)
Last navigated page button	To navigate to the last visited page
Previous book page (navigation button)	To navigate to previous page
Next book page (navigation button)	To navigate to next page
Previous book page (on page bar)	To navigate to previous page
Next book page (on page bar)	To navigate to next page
Go to page control	To navigate to the specified page
Two page view selector	To see the eText in two page view
Arrow cursor selector	To scroll through the page
Zoom Out	To decrease text size
Zoom In	To increase text size
Fit to width	To fit the page to the width of the screen
Print button	To print a page
Zoom percent selector	To set the zoom percentage, For example 5%.
Highlighting tool	To create hotspots
Note tool	To create a private or shared note
Fit to page	To fit the page to the height of the screen
Bookmark page	To bookmark a page
Show links	To enable or disable hotspots in the viewer
Glossary Navigation button	To display glossary terms in the left pane
Table of Contents navigation button	To access Table of Contents menu in the left pane
Resources navigation button	To access interactive and media elements within the online text in the left pane
Zoom reset	To reset the screen to default settings
Audio Text Synch button	To access Audio Text Synch controls
Glossary button	To display glossary terms in a dialog box

Whiteboard Feature Settings

Features exclusive to Whiteboard view are listed in the following table.

Zoom In, Zoom Out	To increase and decrease the size of the book page
Fit page	To fit the entire page in the content area
Arrow Tool	To change the tool from highlighting tool or note tool to arrow icon
Show and Hide Navigator	To open and close the navigation bar
History Icon	To navigate to the last viewed page
Previous page, Next page	To navigate to previous and next pages
Page Number	To jump to the page entered.
Hand Tool	To drag the page within the scrollable space
Switch to Browse view	To switch from Whiteboard view to Browse view
Move Toolbar	To reposition the toolbar to any of the docking positions (Left, Right or Bottom)
Zoom Area	To enable or disable Zoom areas
Two Page View Selector	To switch between a two-page or single page view

To specify the viewer user interface features for each integration scenario:

1. From Authoring Home, select or search for an eText.
2. From the Authoring menu, click Online Viewer UI features.
3. Identify the integration scenario for which you want to specify the user interface features.
4. Click Select Viewer UI Features to specify the user interface features you want to include in the online viewer for an integration scenario.
5. Click Save.
6. Repeat step 1 to 5 for each remaining integration scenario.

To specify the viewer user interface features for each distribution type:

1. From Authoring Home, select or search for an eText.
2. From the Authoring menu, click Export for Distribution.
3. Select the distribution type from the available options: CD-ROM, OCAS, and PSN.
4. Click Select Viewer UI features (a pop-up window opens) to select features you want to include in the offline viewer for either CD-ROM, PSN or OCAS (depending upon the selection made in step 3).
5. Click Save.

Notes:

• eText Authoring and Proofing platform does not validate your selections in any way. This means that if you accidentally select a check box which is not meant for a specific distribution type or integration scenario, then that error is propagated out to the target distribution type or integration scenario.
• You can override the eText Language Interface page settings for an integration scenario or Export type. For example, if the whiteboard toolbar setting is only Left or Right on Language Interface page, you can change it to Left, Right and Bottom for any integration scenario or Export type through the Select viewer UI feature pop-up.
