See your course as students do

1. From Settings > Course details, select Open student view to interact with your course as a student does.

   A banner identifies the page as the student view. Work you submit while in student view does not appear in the gradebook or affect course averages.

2. When you finish, close the student view window, or leave it open and select the browser window that contains the instructor view.

What do the books and stars in student assignments mean?

Students assignments show books for readings and stars for items that can be scored; for example, assessments and concept checks.

Before students start work on an item, its star or book icon is empty. The icon appears half filled when the student starts work, and completely filled when the student finishes work. This visual cue shows student their progress and any work they may have missed.
