Navigation settings

Use the Navigation Settings tab to optionally include or remove some user interface features of the eText 2.0 platform, such as the Bookshelf or Table of Contents. You are not obliged to add any information here; the default template is sufficient.

The navigation elements for eText 2.0 School (RUMBA version) and eText 2.0 Higher Ed (SMS version) have different user interfaces, but for both versions you have the option to turn features on or off. The features included in the 9-dot menu vary, depending on whether the title is for the School group or the Higher Ed and International group. (You can specify the Group setting on the Edit Metadata page in Golden Gate.)

You can configure the following navigation elements for an eText 2.0 HigherEd (SMS) title:

  • Table of Contents
  • Bookmarks

collapsedCustomize icons and names in the navigation menu (for eText 2.0 School [RUMBA] only)

The following options are available to customize 9-dot navigation menu elements.

  • Custom icon: To add a link for a custom icon, select Enable Icon and then enter the URL for the icon. The link for the custom icon should be available either from the Pearson media server or another URL where it can always be retrieved.

    Icon specifications (for both enabled and disabled icons):

    • Width: 75 px maximum
    • Height: 45 px maximum
    • Border: transparent
    • File format: .PNG (24-bit)
    • Pixel-depth: 72 dpi
  • Custom name: Name your element. This name will appear in the 9-dot menu of the eText 2.0 user interface.
  • Alternative text — Create a new name for your element that will display in the eText 2.0 user interface. Consider that the 9-dot menu has limited space; do not exceed 256 characters.
  • Description — Describe the action that the navigation element invokes. This description is for internal purposes only (not displayed to end users).
