Before you begin

Updated 05 Mar 2024

Before you assign Learning Catalytics in class, check this Planning Toolkit for Mastering and MyLab courses, or this Planning Toolkit for all others.

  • Decide how Learning Catalytics will achieve your teaching goals.
  • Explore the Learning Catalytics interface and content.
  • Identify ways to use Learning Catalytics to teach your students.
  • Identify ways to measure student learning gains.

Check a few potential issues:

  • Does your classroom have enough capacity for all students to be online simultaneously? Confirm this with your IT department.
  • Do all your students have Web-enabled devices they can bring to class? (They can use any Web-enabled device: laptop, tablet, or phone.)
  • Do your students already have access to Learning Catalytics through your course? If not, remind them to purchase access before the first assignment.

Get your students up and running quickly with their own brief Get Started document (for Mastering and MyLab courses) or this Get Started (for all others).

  • Talk to students about what they gain by using Learning Catalytics.
