Automatic deletion of Learning Catalytics courses

The Pearson student-data privacy policy requires that we delete student data after two years. Once a course reaches the two-year mark, Pearson will send you an email explaining that your Learning Catalytics course will be deleted. The email gives you a time frame and actions that you can take to preserve the course content and student data.

If your course has not reached the two-year limit, you can update the course settings to specify a course end date in the future. If the course has been active for two years, you can export the gradebook or specific results, or you can copy the course's modules and questions. For information on using these options, see the following:

  • Change the course's end date. (collapsedShow the steps.)
    1. Login to learningcatalytics.com.
    2. Find the course that is to be deleted.
    3. Click the course's gear icon and select Settings.
    4. Change the End Date and select Save.
  • Copy the course modules and questions (but not the student data). (collapsedShow the steps.)
    1. Login to learningcatalytics.com.
    2. Select Copy a course.
    3. Select the course that you want to copy.

      Learning Catalytics creates a copy of the course, and the copy has the modules and questions from the original course.

  • Download all results from the course's Gradebook in a .csv format. (collapsedShow the steps.)
    1. Login to learningcatalytics.com.
    2. Find the course that is to be deleted.
    3. Click the course's gear icon and select Gradebook.
    4. Select the Download link.
  • Retain specific module results by downloading the student results in a .csv format. (collapsedShow the steps).
    1. Login to learningcatalytics.com.
    2. Select the course that is to be deleted.
    3. Click a module's gear icon and select Review results.
    4. Select Download results, then select the student-result format you want.
