Note: The options below are provided to Pearson internal or vendor staff only. Instructors gain access to the Enhanced Simple Editor only from the Mastering application. (Items an instructor creates or edits with the Enhanced Simple Editor appear as My Items in the instructor's personal view of the Item Library until the items are assigned.)
Open the Enhanced Simple Editor from the Item Manager
Sign in to the Authoring Tool and choose Item Manager.

To create a new item in the Enhanced Simple Editor:
Accept or edit the New Item title next to Create Item in the SE. Then, choose Create item in ESE and Create in ESE (on the right).

To open an item in the Enhanced Simple Editor:
Enter an Item ID, choose Open item in ESE, and then select Launch ESE.
The item opens in the Enhanced Simple Editor and is available for edit. Edits you make in the Enhanced Simple Editor appear in the item if you open it later from the Authoring Tool.
Open the Enhanced Simple Editor after you create a new item in your sandbox
- Sign in to the Authoring Tool.
- Open the Item Library and click Create New Item (lower right).
- Click Edit in ESE from the Edit Action menu.
The item opens in the Enhanced Simple Editor and is available for edit. Edits you make in the Enhanced Simple Editor appear in the item if you open it later from the Authoring Tool.
