Sync Mastering grades to your LMS gradebook
If you're teaching a Modified Mastering course that you paired with your LMS (Learning Management System), automatic grade sync may be available from the Mastering Gradebook to your LMS gradebook.
Scores for Mastering standard assignments and any specialized assignments can be synced. For Learning Catalytics, grades sync from Mastering after a synchronous session ends.
- Assignment due date is required. You must set a due date and availability dates for the assignments for standard Mastering assignment scores to sync from Modified Mastering to a supported LMS. (Unassigned assignments do not sync.)

The assignment should contain at least one item for credit. Dynamic Study Module and Adaptive Follow-Up assignments should have credit assigned for the entire assignment.

How Scheduled Reading or for practice assignments (0 point value) grades show in Blackboard, Canvas, and Moodle. After the due date, 0 point value assignments sync so that 0.00/0.00 shows in these LMS gradebooks. This is not true for Brightspace. (See next section.)
Before the due date, dashes appear in these gradebooks for Scheduled Reading or assignments for practice.
- Brightspace customers: Assignment point value cannot be 0. Grade sync doesn't work in Brightspace for Scheduled Reading assignments or if the assignment contains only practice or extra credit items. You can get grade sync to work in the following cases.
- For Modified Mastering standard assignments: Assign a point value to at least one of its items. You cannot assign a point value for Scheduled Reading assignments.
- For specialized assignments, like Dynamic Study Modules or Adaptive Follow-Ups: Assign a point value to the entire assignment.
- Brightspace customers: Mastering assignment titles can't contain special characters /”*<>+=|%. Special characters can also include extended ASCII characters, such as en-dashes, em-dashes, or accents. Such characters will interfere with grade sync unless they are removed. The Beta assign-by-group feature can’t be applied for the assignment. As a workaround, you can export scores, time, and difficulty data from the Mastering Gradebook to a .csv file and then import it into your LMS.
Your LMS administrator needs to enable the grade sync feature. You must also set it up in the LMS for your course from the Pearson MyLab and Mastering settings area.

To ensure score accuracy in your LMS gradebook, apply any student assignment exemptions in your LMS.
If automatic grade sync is unavailable for your LMS, or even if it is, you can always manually export scores, time, and difficulty data from the Mastering Gradebook to a .csv file. Import the .csv file into your LMS or open it with a spreadsheet application.
