Sequester items in unscheduled or future assignments
Updated 19 Feb 2024
You don't need to select the items for Adaptive Follow-Up assignments because the Pearson adaptive learning engine takes care of assembling each student's individually targeted Follow-Ups. However, you do have the ability to prevent specific items from appearing in a Follow-Up if you want to sequester those items for later Parent assignments, or prevent the items from ever appearing in any student's Follow-Up in this course.
- Test bank items and items that include an essay will never appear in a Follow-Up, so no action is required to prevent their being included.
Create an assignment and add the items you want to sequester. You have the option to either:
- Add dates for the assignment, which will make it available to students on the date that you specify. After the assignment's due date, items from that assignment can appear in later Follow-Up assignments, as needed for review or reinforcement.
- Leave the assignment unscheduled (with no dates). You can add dates later if you want to make the assignment available to students. If you never add dates, items in the assignment are sequestered, and will never appear in a Follow-Up.
Important: If you are working in a copied a course, such as a pre-built course or another instructor’s course, and you don’t intend to use all of the copied assignments, be sure to delete the unused assignments so the items in those assignments won’t be sequestered.
