As soon as you cross over from your Mastering course to Learning Catalytics, the corresponding Learning Catalytics course is ready for you to start adding modules.
Each module is set up in advance and has a module name that you supply and can edit.
A session is the delivery of one module. Each session has a unique numeric session ID, assigned by the system when the session starts.
When you add a module, you select one of five available response types. Students experience each response type differently, and you deliver these modules in different ways.

On the Create Module page, enter a module Name (students will see) and Date (used to sort modules in the list you see).
This date doesn't affect when you deliver the module or when it's due.
You can add questions and customize the module now, or you can return later to edit the module.
You can always copy or clone a module to deliver the same content multiple times in separate sessions, each with a new session ID. You might use the same module content for several sections of the same course, for different courses, or even in a later term.
Note: When you copy a Mastering course, any Learning Catalytics modules associated with the original course are automatically copied to the new course. For more information, see Characteristics of a copied course.
Procedure:
Do one of the following:
Click the gear icon for a module in this course, and then click Clone module from the menu.
Edit the module to give it a distinctive Name, and customize it as described in the next section.
Immediately after you create or copy a module, or if you open a module later to edit it, you can change the Name, Date, and Response Type that you specified for the module.
On the Add Questions and Customize Module page you can also set other options specific to each response type. When you are done, be sure to click Save and Finish.
Important: For scores to transfer successfully, you and students must have completed the steps described in Enable Learning Catalytics for students.
Scores for any Learning Catalytics module session can be automatically transferred to the Mastering Gradebook.
You set up the transfer as part of customizing the module, as follows:
Select whether points should count for credit or extra credit.
Scores for practice can't be sent to Mastering. To use Learning Catalytics for practice, unselect the Send grade data to Mastering check box.

Immediately after you create or copy a module, or if you open a module later to edit it, you can add questions to the module. At the bottom of the Add Questions and Customize Module page, click either link:

As you are adding questions and allotting points for each question, you should also be aware of the implications of Learning Catalytics automatic and manual scoring.
Questions that you add are listed at the bottom of the page, where you can do all of the following:
Click and select Edit to edit the question. (Allowed only for community-contributed content.)
Click the module row to open the module you want to edit, and then click Edit.
Note: If a session for the module is in progress, you can neither open nor edit the module.
Click the module row to open the module to edit, and then click x Delete module.
Note: If a session for the module is in progress, you can neither open nor delete the module.
Tip: Whenever you start a module, check the breadcrumbs at the top of the page to confirm that you are delivering the module from the correct course.

When you stop a session, you return to the list of modules, with a graphical representation of the module you just delivered in that session, along with other modules that you have added or delivered in the same course.

You can also click and select Review results to see student-by-student responses for each question. There you can add comments that students will see if you enable them to review module results, and you can mark non-automatically scored questions as correct. (These questions are considered incorrect by default, until you mark them correct.).
When a session is stopped, either manually or because the duration has elapsed, it cannot be restarted. You can, however, start another session to redeliver the same module content.
Note: Your module list always shows a graphical representation for the most recently delivered session for each module. If you want to preserve the graphical display for one session, but deliver the same module content in a later session in the same course, consider cloning the module. See the earlier section for instructions.
