Course details

When you create your course, you set the course type (Instructor or Student), name, description, course dates, enrollment dates, and copy settings. You can later view or edit these course details.
Notes:
- Section instructors and teaching assistants can't edit course details.
- All dates start and end according to Eastern Time (ET).
- Select Manage Course from the main menu in your course, and then select Edit Course Details.
Mastering customers: Select My Courses from the main menu, choose Details next to the course name, then select Edit course details.
Edit Course Details page — Shows your course name, description, course ID, course type, and the allow copy setting, as well as information about the course materials, such as textbook title and ISBN-13. The course and enrollment dates also appear for student courses. You may need to scroll to see all the information and options on the page.
- Edit the Course Type:
- Select Instructor-use Course if you do not intend to enroll students in the course. Use it to organize your course structure and customize assignments then copy it to create student courses for enrollment.
You can't switch to this course type if students already enrolled in the course.
- Select Student-use Course if students will enroll in this course.
You can’t switch to this course type if the instructor course already has student course copies.
Note: If the course type is set as Coordinator Course or Member Section, you can’t change the course type.
- Select Instructor-use Course if you do not intend to enroll students in the course. Use it to organize your course structure and customize assignments then copy it to create student courses for enrollment.
- Edit the Course Name. Enter a name students will easily recognize. For example, use the same course name that appears in your syllabus.
- Edit the Description (Optional). Enter text that helps you identify this course. For example, add the course number and section, or when the course meets. This text is not shown to students.
- For Allow Copy, select Instructors can copy this course.
Send the course ID to other instructors so they can make a copy of your course.
Remove the check mark to prevent other instructors from copying the course. As the course creator (owner), you can still copy your own course.
- Edit Course Dates.
For student courses, use the calendar to select the dates when you’ll teach the course.
Student access begins on the course start date and ends early the next morning after the course end date. As the course creator (owner), you have access to the course until it is deleted.
- Edit Enrollment Dates. For student courses, use the calendar to select the dates that students can enroll.
Students with temporary access can pay anytime to regain full access to the course, even after the enrollment period ends or after temporary access expires.
- Select Save Changes.
To see more complete details, such as course copy history, original course materials, and a list of instructors, select My Courses from the main menu then select Details next to the course name.
