Create or edit learning outcomes (My Learning Outcomes)

If you want to use learning outcomes in your course, you can create or edit custom learning outcomes, known as My Learning Outcomes. Examples of when you
- No outcomes are provided for the course textbook or other resource upon which your course is based
- You want to associate custom My Items with outcomes. (Mastering doesn’t provide learning outcomes for My Items.)
If you know the learning outcomes you want to add, you might want to create them all at once from the Course Settings page. You can also create or edit learning outcomes from the Specify Outcomes page as you create or edit an assignment.

If you know the learning outcomes you want to add, you can create them all at once from the Course Settings page, as described below. You can also create learning outcomes from the Specify Outcomes page as you create or edit an assignment
- Select Mastering Course Settings from your LMS course.
You can also select Course Settings (Getting Started area) from the Mastering Course Home. - Scroll to the Learning Outcomes section.
To copy text from a provided Learning Outcome: Choose “Show Me the List of Learning Outcomes Provided for this Course”, copy the text you want, and then close the window.
- Select Add/Edit My Learning Outcomes.
- Select Add New Learning Outcome.
- Enter a new learning outcome (up to 255 characters) or edit an existing outcome. If you copied text from a provided learning outcome, you can paste it into a My Learning Outcome now.
Tip: You can also copy and paste a learning outcome from a Word file or other text file.
- To add another outcome, repeat steps 4–6.
- Select Save or Save and Close.
- Complete steps 1–3 above.
- Edit the text in any learning outcome box.
- Select Save or Save and Close.
- Complete steps 1–3 from the "Create My Learning Outcomes" procedure above.
- Select the Remove check box for one or more learning outcomes.
- Select Save or Save and Close.
- If you see a warning message, select Remove Outcome(s) to continue.
