Side door: Access Mastering when the usual way is unavailable
Updated 19 Feb 2024
The Side Door page lets you access key areas of your Mastering course when other parts of your course are temporarily unavailable. Check the system status of Pearson learning products (whether your Mastering product is available)
- It's possible that the MyLab and Mastering sign-in site is down temporarily. If you've been able to sign in before, go to this page and select your Mastering product to sign in. Not all Pearson products support this alternate access option.
- When you select a page to view, such as Assignments, its contents appear below the areas where you selected a course and page.
- Any work you do from the Side Door page will be available to you when you next sign in to the fully functional course.

Students can access the Course Home, Assignments, and Scores page content by selecting a page from the list. The Help & Support link is available at the top right of the Side Door page.

Instructors can access the Course Home, Assignments, Scores, Item Library, Student IDs and Groups, and Gradebook page content by selecting a page from the list. The Help & Support link is available at the top right of the Side Door page.

The list of courses you can select from include all Mastering courses associated with the Pearson account you used to sign in.
- You can choose any course in the list, but page content can be shown for only one selected course at a time.
- For student accounts, the course selection list includes all Mastering courses whose end date has not been reached and courses for which the student's access has not lapsed or been made inactive.
- For all user roles (student, instructor, or section instructor), the course selection list does not include any standard Mastering courses that may also be associated with the Pearson account you used to sign in with.
