Enter or edit your student ID

At your instructor's option, you may be asked to enter a unique student identifier (ID) when you first open a Mastering resource from your LMS course . Enter the requested identifier according to the on-screen instructions. If you're unsure what to enter, contact your instructor.

  • Up to 32 characters.
  • Characters A-Z, a-z, 0-9, and any standard keyboard characters, such as period (.), @, _, or -.
  • A single space between characters, but not a series of spaces.
  • You chose Skip This Step when asked for a student ID.
  • You made a mistake.
  • The student ID on record for you (from a previous course) isn't applicable to a newer course.

  1. Choose Mastering User Settings from your LMS course.
  2. Edit your Student ID using one of the following methods:
    • If no Student ID text box is available:
      This means that your instructor doesn't require you to enter a student ID.
    • If a Student ID already appears in the text box:
      This is the last Student ID on record for you in Mastering. You may need to change this. For example, you might need to update an ID from a previous school or you might need to enter a different type of ID for this instructor's course.
  3. Select Save.
