Change a course section after joining a Mastering course
Updated 29 Aug 2024
If you register and join Mastering course and then change course sections at your school, you can access a different Mastering course or section being taught with the same textbook edition. You don't need to re-register or make any additional purchase.
Check with the instructor of your new course section to find out whether its Mastering course ID is the same or different from the one you used to join the first course. The Mastering course ID identifies each unique Mastering course.

- Join the second course by entering its course ID.
- Notify the instructor for the school course section you switched from so that you can be disenrolled from the first online Mastering course. (Otherwise, Mastering may enter a series of failing assignment scores for you.) Once you are disenrolled from a course, you will no longer be able to sign in to it.
If you worked on any online assignments in the first course
Ask the instructor to make a record of your scores from the original course BEFORE disenrolling you. The instructor for your new course can then add your scores to the gradebook for the new course.

Your instructor may be able to reassign you to another group within the same online course. Consult with your instructor to find out if this applies to you.
