Suspension from your online course
Updated 29 Aug 2024
If you try to sign in to a course and instead get the message that you have been suspended:
Contact your instructor to resolve your suspension. Instructors control student suspension from a Mastering course.
Possible causes for Mastering course suspension
A student whose status is uncertain can be suspended from Mastering at any time by their instructor. Reasons for this may include:
- The professor believes the student has dropped the course.
- There's some question about the student's status in the course.
- The student's account may have been used illegally.
Effects of Mastering course suspension
- The suspension applies only to the Mastering course. It does not affect your school status.
- Students suspended from a Mastering course cannot enter the course to work on any of its assignments.
- Until the instructor lifts the Mastering suspension, a suspended student cannot be disenrolled from the course.
- Students whose status is changed from suspended back to enrolled in Mastering can access their work again. No prior coursework is lost.
- If assignments were due during the period you are suspended: You are NOT automatically granted an extension for these. Ask your instructor about getting an extension to the due date and time on these assignments so that you can catch up on this work.
