SourceCheck originality checker

The SourceCheck originality checker searches the Internet for content that matches a composition or collaboration assignment's content. The found content can match the entire document or just a portion of the document, such as a paragraph. SourceCheck then creates a report that shows:

This report is attached to the composition or collaboration assignment and is available when the document is in the composing space or in the assignment's draft history.

You can enable this feature when you create a course or edit the course's student access properties. The SourceCheck originality checker can be accessible to just you (the instructor) or to both you and your students.

When enabled, the SourceCheck originality checker is available for composition and collaboration assignments that students write or paste in the composing space. Students can submit up to six drafts per assignment to SourceCheck. Your administration determines the maximum number of submissions for an instructor. For both instructors and students, the number of submissions remaining is displayed when you click the Check Source link in the composing space.

The turnaround time from submission to report is typically 24 hours. However, you can check for the report whenever and as often as you like.

Note: SourceCheck runs the comparison against a database that is continuously updated with Internet content. As extensive as this content is, it is not possible to conduct an exhaustive, 100% search of Internet content. For example, SourceCheck cannot check sites that are password protected or sites that prevent anyone from indexing or downloading their content.
