Overview: Diagnostic Evaluations
Your MyLab offers diagnostic activities for evaluating your writing skills.
Diagnostic pre-tests
give the MyLab the information it needs to customize the Study Plan
to help you strengthen your skills. Diagnostic
post-tests, which you typically take at the end of a course, provide
a measure of how well you have done and progressed.
If you are in an instructor's course, the instructor decides how and when you can access the diagnostics.
- Some instructors require that students complete the diagnostic pre-tests before they can have full access to the course. In this case, as soon as you log in to the course, it displays the Diagnostic Required screen. See Take a Required Diagnostic Test for more information.
- Instructors can also assign diagnostics and, optionally, assign due dates. In this case you need to click the Study Plan tab to view the required diagnostics. See Assigned Topics and Diagnostic Activities and Take a Diagnostic Test on Your Own for more information.
- The instructor has not required or assigned the diagnostics and you are free to take them on your own. See Take a Diagnostic Test on Your Own for more information.
- The instructor has hidden the diagnostics and you cannot access them. In this case you cannot take the diagnostic tests.
