Your course automatically scores and posts student grades for assignments that have auto-graded question types, such as true/false or multiple choice questions.
Note: This topic explains how to edit grades for automatically scored assignments in the gradebook. You can also edit grades in the View Submissions window.
Note: Teaching assistants must have permission to edit student grades. Use the Preferences > Permissions page to control which functionality is available to teaching assistants.
There are several ways to edit grades in your course:
Note: When you edit grades for late submissions, the submissions are accepted automatically. The scores appear the same as on-time submissions in the gradebook, and the late submission icon no longer appears. When you edit grades for late submissions that had grace period settings enabled, the edit grade icon
replaces the grace period icon

The new grades appear on your appears in all edited grade cells to show that the grades were manually changed. If you open the View Submissions window, you can still see the original student grade. The edited grade is shown as the Revised Grade, in the top-right corner of the window.
If you edit grades for an activity that is "Pending" (waiting for manual grading), the activity is not included in report calculations until all of the questions in the activity that require manual grading have been scored.
You cannot edit grades for
Tip: To edit multiple grades for a single student, select Edit Grades from the student name options menu. To edit a single grade for a single student, select Edit Grade from the options menu of any graded cell. Items that display an "average" score in the gradebook are dimmed because you cannot edit grades for these assets.
