Use search characters

In the search field, you can use the following symbols to narrow your search criteria:

Wildcard (*)

Use an asterisk (*) to represent one or more characters when you do not know what the real character is, or if you do not want to enter the entire keyword. Use the wildcard to locate all items that include the characters you do enter.

Examples:

chapter 1*

Search results include all items that begin with "Chapter 1":

Chapter 100
Chapter 1A

*ology

Search results include all items that end with "ology":

terminology
sociology

chapter* 1*

Search results include all items that begin with "Chapter" and include "1":

Chapter 1 Math
Chapter Four 1A Algebra
Science Chapters 10-100

Double quotes (")

Enclose keywords in double quotes to search for phrases. Words enclosed in double quotes ("Math Homework") appear together in all search results and results are limited to exact matches of the entire phrase.

Examples:

"chapter 1"

Search results include all items that are an exact match to the phrase within the quotes:

Chapter 1

"chapter" "1"

Search results include all items that include the word "chapter" and the number "1" as stand-alone entries:

Chapter 1
Math Chapter 3 Trigonometry 1 

Combining characters

You can use a combination of wildcard and double quotes to refine your search criteria.

Examples:

*"chapter 1"*

Search results include all items that contain "Chapter 1" and are preceded or followed by additional characters:

Chapter 1 Math
Chapter 1A Algebra
Science Chapter 10

Chapter* "1"

Search results include all items that begin with "chapter" and include the number "1" as a stand-alone entry:

Chapter 1 English
Chapters 1 and 2
