Add activity HelpLinks

Updated 19 Feb 2024

Activity HelpLinks are links you specify that students can access while working on the activity. These links may help students answer activity questions. You can define links to assets in the Course Materials Library, to an external website, or to a Pearson eText.

  • The HelpLinks page appears if you select Enable Need Help resource for students when taking activity on the Preferences > General page.
  • You must enable this option for teaching assistants.
  1. On the activity HelpLinks page, click the Add Links menu.
    • To create a link to the Course Materials Library, click Select from Course Materials Library, select the material you want to link, and click Add and Close.
    • To create a link to a website, click Add Link to Website, type a name and URL for the link, and click Add.
    • To create a link to a student edition of an eText, click Add eText Link. This option is available if Pearson student edition eTexts are associated with your material. Select one of the following options:
      • Click New eText Link to create an eText link. Then enter an eText link title, select the eText book, enter the eText page number that you want to open when a student selects the link, and click Add. If you leave the page number blank, the eText home page opens. You are prompted to save any links you create in the Course Materials Library. Students access the associated eText from the Need Help button when working with the activity.
      • Click Add eText Link From Course Materials Library to choose an eText link from the available student edition eText links in your course. Click the eText link you want to add and then click Add.

The material appears on the HelpLinks page with the link name you specified.

  2. To open links you add, click the Source link that appears beneath each link or select Preview from the options menu.
  3. To reorder the links, use the order icon to drag and drop the link to a new location.
  4. To edit, remove, or hide the link from students, use the context menu.
  5. To continue creating your activity, click Save and Continue. You can also choose an alternate navigation option.
