Use the character palette

Updated 19 Feb 2024

The character palette toolbar provides a basic set of characters used in a specific language (French, German, Italian, Portuguese, or Spanish). It allows you to enter accents and characters without adjusting your keyboard for the different language.

Use the character palette to insert special characters into text boxes. The character palette displays French, German, Italian, Portuguese, or Spanish language characters, depending on the language set for the course. It is available in places where you have to enter text in a text box.

  1. Place the cursor in the text box.
  2. Click the required special character on the character palette.

By default, the character palette displays lowercase letters. To display upper-case letters, click Caps Lock. To return to the lowercase characters, click Caps Lock again. Note that the available characters depend on the language selected for your course. To see a palette, select your course language.
