Using the Course Materials Wizard

The Course Materials wizard lets you:
- Add assignments
- Schedule assignments (MyLab IT only)
- Copy materials from another course
- Manage your content library
- Administer assignment date exceptions (MyLab IT only)
To access the wizard, select Manage Course Materials from the menu bar.
- Select Add Assignments.
- Select the items to add from the Course Materials Library and click Add to my Course.
- Select Schedule and Assign.
- Select an activity's Assign button. A list of options appears.
- Select the Assigned option and set the due date.
- Set any other option for the assignment you require. For example, to restrict availability of the assignment open this option and select the Set availability date range option, and enter the start and end dates that this assignment is available.
- When all the options are set correctly, click Save.
- Select Copy Materials from Another course.
- Select the course or shared library to copy from.
- Select the items to copy and click Copy and Add to My Course.
Administer assignment date exceptions
If you have one or more students with a disability, you must legally give them extra time to complete assignments. These could be in-class assignments or activities to be completed outside of class. Consult your institution's administration to learn how much extra time you must allow to your students.
You have to options when assigning extra time to a student:
- Percentage based exemption -- typically used for in-class assignments with a time limit (for example, an hour)
- Time based exemption -- typically used for assignments with a due date.
Once you enter a value it to multiplied against the time limit or due date to yield a new value for the student(s) you select. For example, if you assign a 50% exemption to a one hour assignment, the student gets an hour and 30 minutes to complete the assignment.
- Select Personalized Scheduling.
- Select Grant a percentage based exemption.
- Select the student(s) you want to grant the exception to and click Continue. To assign multiple students, create a group first and then select the group.
- Enter a percentage in the field provided. Consult your institution's administration to learn how much extra time you must legally allow to your students.
- Select Personalized Scheduling.
- Select Grant a time based exemption.
- Select the student(s) you want to grant the exception to and click Continue. To assign multiple students, create a group first and then select the group.
- Locate the assignment to modify and click its Personalize button.
- Select a new due date for the assignment using the calendar that appears.
