Lead a LiveChat session

You can use LiveChat to lead audio and video discussions with two to six students in your class. Within the LiveChat session, you can invite participants, record audio, video, and text comments, and then submit the reuslting session for grading.
As the course instructor, you can lead the session using your course demo student account, or can have a student lead the session.
- Create and assign an activity that contains a LiveChat question.
- When you want to begin a session,click Go to Student View in the course banner.
- Click Assignments >To Do, and click Start next to the LiveChat assignment.
- In the window that appears, click Start and then click Create Room.
- Select your computer's webcamera and microphone if they are not already selected, and then click Share Selected Devices.
- Click OK to acknowledge that you must invite additional participants before you can record the LiveChat session. (You specified the number of required participants when you set properties for the LiveChat activity.)
- Lead the LiveChat session:
- To invite students to a session, select student names in the WHO'S ONLINE window, then the invite students icon .
- To start or stop recording, select the start/stop recording icon .
- To review the session recording, select the review recording icon .
- To chat with students at any time during the session, select the chat icon .
For easy reference as you grade each session, ask students to type their names in the chat window, and then say their name when the recording starts.
- When you finish the session, click Finish: Submit for Grading and then click Finishto confirm your submission.
Note that each participant must also submit the session to get credit for completing the assignment.
- To end the session, and close the LiveChat window, click RETURN to Course.
