Help: Acceptable Characters!

Keep your account safe and secure! Observe the following rules for passwords and email addresses.

General Rules

To make your password secure so that it's difficult for someone to guess:

  • Don't use your personal information.
  • Don't use the same password you use on your debit/credit card, banking or other financial accounts.
  • Don't use regular words in a dictionary for a computer program to crack.

The Rules

  • The Password must have at least 8 characters (up to 32) and at least one number and one capital letter.
  • Login name must have at least 4 characters and up to 64 characters.
  • Make sure your login name and password are different.

Mix things up!

  • Replace letters with numbers, like using the number 3 instead of e, a 1 instead of an i, or a zero instead of o. Sample strong passwords are B0st0ndud3 (bostondude) or 1Mag1n3that (imaginethat).
  • Create a phrase instead of just one word, for example: MyGrade100
  • Use an alternate spelling like in text messaging, for example: fud for food

Any of the following can be used in passwords and email addresses:

  • Any letters: a to z
  • Any numbers: 0 through 9
  • These special characters: @ (at sign) . (period) - (hyphen/dash) _ (underscore)

DO NOT USE spaces, other characters or symbols, or non-English characters (such as é) in passwords or email addresses.
