Organize notes with Outline [Desktop only]
To organize your research, use Outline on the Notebook page.
- Slide the Outline into or out of view by selecting View/Hide.
- Select Grid View to drag and drop notes from the Notebook section into the Outline.
You can't drag and drop notes into the Outline in Flexible View.
- Notes that are part of the Outline have a 3-line icon in the upper right.
- Notes with a paperclip in the upper right have attachments.
- To add notes to the Outline, select notes from the Notebook page, then at the bottom check Add to Outline.
To add a note directly to the Outline, select New Note at the top of the Outline section.
- Select Projects, select the project you want to work on, and then select Notebook.
- In the Outline section, select View from the View/Hide toggle to see the Outline.
- Select a note and use the up and down arrows to reorder it in the Outline.
- To add notes directly to the Outline, select New Note.
- To remove notes from the Outline, select a note and then select Remove.
You can also double click a note in the Outline to delete or edit it.
- Use the Export menu to save the Outline as a CSV or PDF file.
- If you add a group to the Outline, then edit the group, the Outline still shows the earlier version of the group. Remove the group from the Outline, then add it again to see the latest version. (This will be fixed in a later version of Pearson Writer.)
A thesis statement summarizes the argument of your project.
- On the Notebook page, select View from the View/Hide toggle to view the Outline.
- Enter your thesis statement in the Thesis text box.
Text is automatically saved as you enter it.
You can edit your thesis as many times as you like.
