Record and upload student speeches
When you have a webcam set up in the classroom and record students giving speeches, you can upload the resulting videos and assign them to the respective students. The students can then download and/or delete the videos.
When you record the video, note that MediaShare accepts the following video file formats: .flv, .asf, .qt, .mov, .avi, .wmv, .mp4, .f4v, .mpeg, .mxf, .rm, and .3gp.
To upload a video and assign it to a student:
- Point to the Manage tab and click My Assignments.
- Click the assignment's Upload Video button.
- Click the Click to continue link.
- Do one of the following:
- Upload a video file. (Show me the steps.)
- Click the Upload tab.
- Click the Browse button and select the file to upload.
- Click the Upload! button.
- Click the Next button when the upload has completed.
- (Optional) Enter a Title other than the file name. (The Title is the text that users will see and click.)
- Click the Next button.
- Wait for the video to upload. (See Video size and upload times.)
- Record and upload a video using a webcam. (Show me the steps).
- Click the Webcam tab.
- Select your webcam from the drop-down list.
Note: Adobe Flash Player may display a pop-up that requests permission to access your webcam. You need to allow this access before you can record a video with your webcam. If applicable, click the Allow button to grant permission.
- Click the Record button and record your video.
- Click the Stop button.
- (Optional) Click the Play button to view your recording.
- Click the Next button.
- (Optional) Enter a Title other than the file name. (The Title is the text that users will see and click.)
- Click the Next button.
- Wait for the video to upload. (See Video size and upload times.)
- Complete the entries on the Edit My Submission page and make sure to select the student in the Assign to Student drop-down list.
- Click the Save button.
- (Optional) Click the publish button to allow students other than the assigned student access to the video.
