Videos in MediaShare

You can use a cell phone, camera, or webcam device to record a video. You can upload a video file or use a webcam device to both record and upload the video to MediaShare in one process. Whichever method you use, make sure to:

• Review the device's instructions prior to making your video to ensure that you are off to a good start. This also helps avoid creating an upside-down or sideways video.
• Install any software that comes with a webcam to insure that its drivers are up to date. Also check that the microphone associated with the webcam is enabled.
• Review a video file before uploading it to MediaShare. This ensures that you submit the quality video you intended.

MediaShare accepts the following video file formats: .flv, .asf, .qt, .mov, .avi, .wmv, .mp4, .f4v, .mpeg, .mxf, .rm, and .3gp.

Pearson recommends that you keep your videos under 500 MB (a 500 MB video is approximately 10 minutes in length). This helps keep the uploading and processing times from becoming too long.

Regardless of the video size, be patient when uploading videos. MediaShare's average upload time is on a par with uploading videos to YouTube.
