What happens when MediaShare uploads a video?

When you and your students add videos to MediaShare, it first uploads and then processes a video. During the upload, MediaShare displays a progress bar that shows how much of the video has been uploaded.

The Uploading window displays the progress bar. Click Stop or Skip This File to halt the upload process.

Once the upload is completed and the progress bar is no longer displayed, MediaShare begins processing the video to convert it to a format that MediaShare can use. Depending on how large the video is, the processing may take a while and MediaShare might display the following message:

This video is still being processed and will be available soon. Depending on the size of your video it may take up to 30 minutes to appear in this location.

At this point you can save the course or assignment and students can submit their assignment: there is no need to wait for the processing to complete.

The processing time depends on the video's size: larger videos take longer to process than smaller ones. Once MediaShare finishes processing the video, it is either available to everyone in the course or ready for you to approve and publish.
