What can you change and when can you change it?

Here is a quick reference to what you can change about assignments, depending on their status.

You can change any aspect of an assignment before you publish it:

  • View assigned and unassigned content
  • Set or change assignment due date and time
  • Set or change penalties for late work
  • Move content from one assignment to another
  • Remove assigned content or delete an entire assignment
  • View or change global course settings as well as individual assignment settings
  • Publish assignments
  • Add or delete your own quiz questions or questions from a pool
  • Remove or restore quiz questions
  • View assigned or unassigned content
  • Change an assignment or assignment item's due date and time
  • Move content from one assignment to another
  • Remove assigned content or delete the entire assignment
  • View or change global course settings but with caveats
  • View or change availability and scoring settings for assignments and assignment items
  • Unpublish and publish assignments
  • Add or delete your own quiz questions or questions from a question pool
  • Remove or restore quiz questions
  • View assigned or unassigned content
  • Change an assignment or assignment item's due date or time
  • View and change course detail settings, but with caveats
  • Remove assigned content or delete an entire assignment
  • Unpublish and publish assignments
  • Add or delete your own quiz questions or questions from a question pool
  • Remove or restore quiz questions

Note: When you edit assessments that are available to students, assessments affected by your edits are locked while you make changes.

  • View assigned or unassigned content
  • View assignment or assignment item scoring
  • Change an assignment or assignment item's due date and time to a date or time in the future
  • Change global due time until an hour before the assignment is due; previously available assessments remain available, and changing any course detail setting comes with some caveats
  • Add or change the note to students
  • Extend due dates for individual students; to extend the due date for the class, change the assignment due date
