Browsing Resources
When you do not know the specific search term to use or you want to explore your options by examining the available content, you can browse for resources using one of the following attributes:
- By topic – browse resources by a topical hierarchy of content. If a library you are subscribed to arranges its resources by chapter or topic, you can use this feature to browse them by selecting a specific topic.
- By resource type – lets you browse resources by a predefined resource type, such as handouts, guides, lectures or tests, in-class activity, and lecture launcher. The exact types of resources available to you depends on your library subscription.
- By tag – lets you browse resources by a tag you have previously created. Tags are like search keywords; however, they are user-defined. You can assign a tag to a resource so you can find it later by browsing.
You can browse with no search results showing or you can search first and then browse as needed. Browsing after a search changes the results to match your browse.
You can also start a browse with one attribute and then switch to another; however each browse is not cumulative. Changing from one browse to another changes the entire set of results.
When you browse, the results will be presented in the display area in “stacks” of resources. There are two types of stacks based on filter which are displayed: resources by kind and resources by type. The user can click on a stack to see its contents.
