Browsing by a Topical Hierarchy

You can browse resources by a topical hierarchy, such as a table of contents. If a library you are subscribed to arranges its resources by chapter or some other hierarchical method, you can browse resources by navigating through the hierarchy. If no hierarchy is defined, this form of browsing is unavailable.

To browse by topical hierarchy:

  1. Click the Browse Contents tab.
  2. Click a topical hierarchy bar. The top level items appear in the left pane.
  3. Select an item from the hierarchy and to browse any resources the item may have. The resources in the selected item appear in the results area.
  4. If you can expand the selected item, a triangle appears to the left of the item. Click the triangle to expand it and see the items under the selected item.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 as needed.
