Tagging Resources
A tag is a term like a search keyword; however, it is user-defined, not library-defined. You can create a new tag for any resource you find and use that term subsequently to browse for resources. The tag you enter is private; only you can see it and browse by it.
Tip: Use tags to describe the content of a resource. Do not use it to describe something unrelated such as "Tomorrow's lecture". If you need to identify resources for a specific lecture, create a folder in My Collections and place your resource in that folder.
To assign a tag to a resource:
- Double-click the resource you want to modify from the results area. The details window opens.
- Click the Tags bar.
- Enter the term(s) you want to use as a tag and click Add Tags.
To add multiple tags at once, use a comma to separate each tag. For example, the string cats, dogs, adds the tag cats and the tag dogs.
Once you add a tag, you cannot modify it; you can only delete it or add a new one.
To delete a tag, select it and click the x in the upper right corner of the tag.
You can also view the tags for one or more resources:
- By opening a resource's detail window and clicking the Tag tab. The details window shows the tags assigned to the selected resource.
- By clicking the Tags bar from the Browse tab on the left side of the screen. This shows the tags for all resources in your library.
