Delete a course you don't use

If you decide not to teach with a course you created or copied, you can permanently remove it.

Mastering courses paired with an LMS —

Effects of deleting a course
- Student scores and records cannot be recovered.
Also, students and any section instructors can no longer open the course. - If you delete a copied course, deletion has no effect on the original course.
- If you delete a course accidentally, you will need to create or copy it again.
- You cannot reuse the course ID of a deleted course. Course IDs must be unique.
Delete a Mastering course
- Before deleting a student course that has ended,
export student grades.
Before deleting an instructor course, delete all related student courses first.
If you must delete an active course: Alert students (because they'll lose access to their course work) and export their grades first. To avoid confusion, also alert any section instructors before you delete the course.
- On the My Courses page, select Details for the course you want to delete.
- Select Edit Course Details.
- Select Delete Course.
You're asked to confirm the course deletion. - Select Delete course or Cancel.
