Create, copy, or delete a course

Instructors and section instructors with a Pearson Educator account for Mastering can create, copy, and delete courses. After you create or copy a course (including another instructor’s course), the course is now one of your courses.
Planning to pair a Mastering course with an LMS?
You’ll create or copy the course from your LMS instead of following the instructions below. For course pairing instructions, see Instructor Help for using Mastering with your LMS.
- Sign in at mlm.pearson.com.
Older standard Mastering courses have next to the course name and open in a new tab or window.
- Select Create/copy course.
- Select a link below for instructions that apply to your situation.
- Create a new Mastering course
(You can no longer create a standard Mastering course.) - Copy one of your courses or another instructor’s course
- Copy a course to a new edition
- Create a new Mastering course
Copying courses with many assignments can take some time. If some assignments don’t appear in your new course right away, check back in an hour. If the assignments still don’t appear when you reopen the course, please contact Pearson Support.
You or a section instructor in the course might need to complete one or more of the following, in any order that works for you.
Instructor course owners can delete a course they have created or copied. To delete an LMS course pairing, see Instructor Help for using Mastering with your LMS.
Important: Be sure to export any student grades before you delete a
Students cannot access a course beyond its end date. Instructors can typically access a student course for 6 months after it ends.
You are notified by email when a course will be automatically deleted. Similar to when you delete a course, you should export any student grades before the deletion.
