Find items with math remediation
Updated 19 Feb 2024
Some Mastering content for select textbooks contains just-in-time math practice items to help students understand math related to their assigned homework. When students answer incorrectly, answer feedback provides a link to the math practice or learning aid.
Note: Wrong answer responses in items not labeled as providing math remediation may also provide a link for students to open this same kind of math practice or learning aid.
When you select a chapter or section in the Item Library, any unassigned math remediation items are among the list of Featured Items.
You can also search the Item Library for math remediation items using the following.
- Keyword search. Search for Math Remediation using the keyword search feature.
- Special Features filter. When the Special Features content filter is available, you may be able to select Math Review.
Items that provide math remediation appear in your search results list with the following.
- The plus or minus symbol (±) before the item name.
- "± Includes Math Remediation" or “[[Includes Math Remediation]]” at the beginning of the item description.
If students submit wrong answers that indicate a math weakness, the wrong answer feedback provides a link for students to jump to remedial practice or a learning aid.
Example of a math practice question that opens after a student selects the link.
In addition to math remediation items, you can also assign Mathematics Review or Chemistry Review items. Use the Chapter filter to locate any math or chemistry review items and assign these in the beginning of the course. If you don’t see either of these options in the Chapter list, they’re not applicable to your textbook.
