How Show Work questions are graded
Updated 26 Jul 2021
Your instructor can require you to show the work you did to answer a question. You enter this work in the Show Work window when you enter your answer.
When you answer a Show Work question, you automatically get a grade on your answer. But you may have to wait for your instructor to manually grade the work you entered in the Show Work window. Between the time when you submit the assignment and the time when your instructor grades your work, you have only a partial score on the Show Work question.
When you review a question before your instructor has reviewed your work, you see your score so far. In the MyLab player, the partial credit icon appears for a Show Work question that your instructor still needs to grade, and your score so far is also displayed. For example:
Question Score: 0.75 of 1 pt (not yet graded) Test Score: 55% (5.5 of 10 pts)
In this example, the entire question is worth 1 point. For the Question Score, you got 0.75 for answering the correctly. After your instructor grades your work, you can get the remaining 0.25. For the entire test, your score is 55% so far, but probably will be higher after your instructor grades your work.
You see your complete results after your instructor has graded your work on a question. If you open the activity, the player displays the following icons.
