Add weighted columns to the Student Results Summary
A weighted column is one for which you specify the grade weight of the selected columns. For example, you could have a weighted column that specifies that class participation is worth 10% of students' grades, a final composition is worth 50%, and a collaboration assignment is worth 40%. You can add a weighted column to the Student Results Summary.
The gradebook does not display weighted columns when you display grades as points. (With points, you weight assignments by giving them different point values.)
To add weighted columns:
- Do one of the following:
- Click Review Class Progress under Manage Student Resources on the Home page.
- Click the Gradebook tab.
- Click Student Results Summary.
- Click the Customize link.
- Select Create a New Weighted Column and click the Continue button.
The Step 2: Create Weighted Column page is displayed.
- Enter the new column's Full Title and Gradebook Column Title.
By default the new column becomes the rightmost column in the Student Results Summary.
- (Optional) To change the order of the columns, click the Edit button. Drag and drop the columns to change the order and then click the Save button.
- Drag and drop the columns to include in the weighting to the empty slots at the top of the panel on the right. If you are including more than three columns, an additional slot appears each time you drag a new column over.
You cannot include a calculated column or another weighted column in the selection. However, you can include a hidden column.
- Click the Continue button.
The Set Weighting page is displayed.
- Enter the Weight percentage for each selected assignment and click the Continue button. (The weight percentages must total 100%.)
The Confirmation page displays the options you selected.
- Click an Edit button to modify the column settings or click the Save button to create the column.
