Paste text in the composing space

When pasting text in the composing space's text editor, you have three options:

• Paste from Word: Use this icon when you are pasting text copied from Microsoft Word, and you want to retain the formatting of numbered and bulleted lists and any text attributes. However, the pasted text will use the same font typeface and size as the surrounding text in the editor. Show me the steps for using the Paste from Word icon.
  1. Click .

     The Paste from Word window is displayed.

  2. Press Ctrl-V (on your keyboard) to paste the text into the window.
  3. Click the Insert button to paste the text into the document.
• Paste: Use this icon to paste the copied text as is, without any specific formatting. When you click the icon, the composing space pastes the text.
• Paste as Plain Text: Use this icon to remove all formatting from the copied text and paste the text using the current font and size used in the current document. This paste option also does not retain bulleted and numbered list formatting, but does retain the numbers and bullet characters. (Note: The availability of this functionality depends on your browser and operating system.) Show me the steps for using the Paste as Plain Text icon.
  1. Click or press Ctrl-V.

     Note: The availability and use of Ctrl-key sequences varies across browsers and operating systems.

     The Paste as Plain Text window is displayed.

  2. (Optional) Select Keep line breaks (at the top of the window).
  3. Press Ctrl-V to paste the text into the window.
  4. Click the Insert button to paste the text into the document.

Examples of pasted text

The following images show examples of a bulleted list copied from Microsoft Word and pasted into the text editor using the three paste options. First, this is the text that was copied from Word.
