The composing space

You work on and submit most MyLab assignments from the composing space, and you can work on your own personal documents from the composing space. The MyLab displays the composing space when you open a composition, collaboration, or peer-review assignment. You can also display the composing space by clicking the Composing tab.

The main components of the composing space are:

Buttons and options at the top of the space: You use these buttons and options to view an assignment's details or draft history and, when available, attach files to an assignment.
Text editor: This is where you enter, paste, edit, and format your assignment and personal documents.
Writer's Toolkit: Listed down the right side of the text editor, the writer's tools range from grammar FAQs to English and Spanish dictionaries. If your instructor has included NoodleBib, Pearson Tutor Services, and SourceCheck in the course, links to these services are also in the Writer's Toolkit.

Tip: The composing space automatically saves your work after a set period of time, but save your work frequently just as you would in any word processor. Especially save an open document before walking away from the computer, texting, checking tweets, etc.—it is so easy for a distraction that might take just a minute to take an hour. When you return, save the document again.

Maximize your use of the composing space

To ensure that you maximize your use of the composing space, use a supported browser. Although an unsupported browser might seem to work, you may experience display problems or loss of data when you save a document in the composing space.
