Step 2: Name Your Course

When creating, copying, or linking to a course, you use this page to enter the new course's title, section name, start and end dates, and time zone.

For both instructors and students, the course title and section name are displayed on a course's Home and My Courses pages.

The course start date is typically a future date. After the course is created, you can enter and customize it regardless of the course's start date.

When setting the end date, keep in mind that the MyLab archives a course on its end date at 11:59 p.m. (A student's access to your course is dictated by the course start date and the end date of the student's access code. Because an access code is valid for at least 12 months, a student can continue to work in a course as long as the access code is valid, which may be past the course's end date.)

The time zone determines the time-and-date stamp on student submissions and Gradebook reports, and the time at which the course is archived. See Your Course's Time Zone for more information.
