When your instructor is requiring that you take the diagnostic pre-tests, the MyLab displays the Diagnostic Required screen when you enter the course. This screen lists the required diagnostic pre-tests, and you cannot access any other course materials until you complete the pre-tests.
There are three types of diagnostic pre-tests. One tests your reading skills, another your reading level, and a third your basic writing skills (such as grammar and punctuation). Your instructor determines which of these pre-tests are required.
Note: The reading level pre-test is also called the Lexile diagnostic.
The procedures for completing the reading-skill or writing and Lexile diagnostic tests follow.
To take a required reading-skill or writing diagnostic pre-test: (top)
The first test question is displayed.
The next question is displayed.
If you want to quit and finish the test later, click the Stop to Resume Later button. When you re-enter the diagnostic test, it picks up where you left off.
After you complete the last question, the MyLab displays your test results.
To take a required Lexile diagnostic pre-test: (top)
The test's first question is displayed.
The next question is displayed.
After you complete the last question, the MyLab displays your test results. Your score is displayed at the top, followed by the test's questions and answers. For each question, the results show the correct answer in bold green. If you answered a question incorrectly, your answer is displayed in red.
