Hide and Show Topics

Use this procedure to hide topics in your students' Study Plan. Students cannot see or access a hidden topic, and the MyLab removes the topic from the students' and your Gradebook reports. However, the grades are not lost; should you choose to redisplay (show) the topic, the grades are redisplayed in the Gradebook reports.

When you hide topics, also specify whether you want diagnostic questions relevant to these topics removed from the diagnostic tests. For example, if you are hiding a topic on basic grammar, you may also want the MyLab to remove any questions on basic grammar from the diagnostic tests.

Important: Any changes made to the Study Plan are immediately filtered through to the students. If students are already working in the course, you may want to let them know that you are hiding topics because the topics—and the students' work—will disappear from their Study Plan and Gradebook.

To hide or show a topic:

  1. Click the Study Plan tab.
  2. Click Edit Study Plan and Set Due Dates.

The Study Plan Editor displays the Writing Skills topic groupings.

  3. Do one of the following:
  4. Make sure Show Hidden Topics in Diagnostics (above the topic list) is checked if you want to include questions on the hidden topics in the diagnostics. Or, if you want these topics excluded from the diagnostics, remove the check mark.

To redisplay a hidden topic or topic grouping, repeat steps 1 through 3 and click the applicable Show button.
