Force submissions
Updated 19 Feb 2024
From the View Submissions window, you can submit an assignment for a student who has started, but not yet submitted the assignment. This is known as a "forced submission." You may want to force a submission if:
- A student started the assignment, saved it, but failed to submit it on time.
- The assignment status shows as "In Progress" but student is unable to open the assignment. This occurs when the student only has a single attempt to complete and submit an assignment, the assignment did not have the Save for Later feature enabled, and the student experienced a connectivity issue or system error prior to submitting the assignment. Note that if students close an assignment using the browser close icon (X), the attempt is submitted for them. Depending on the circumstances, you may want to delete the submission after you force it.
Teaching assistants must have permission to force student submissions. Use the Preferences > Permissions page to control which functionality is available to teaching assistants. (MyLab Languages only)
- Open the View Submissions window for the submission you want to submit.
- Click Submit Student Answers. This option appears only if the student started but did not submit the assignment.
Any answers that the student provided are evaluated and graded.
