Use the verb chart
Updated 19 Feb 2024
When enabled, the verb chart contains verb tenses and different forms of an infinitive verb for the language used in the course (French, German, Italian, Portuguese, or Spanish).
By default, the verb chart appears on the resource toolbar for students but not for instructors. You can add it to the instructor toolbar at any time.
Enable the verb chart
- Click Preferences > General.
- Under Enable instructor resource toolbar for course, click Display Verb Chart.
- Click Save Preferences.
Open the verb chart from the resource toolbar
When you open the verb chart, you see a list of infinitive verbs in the language selected on the left. A list of categories, such as tense or mood, for infinitive verbs appears on the right. Each category has options related to the category and language. The bottom of the window displaying a list of subjective pronouns.
- In Type or select the infinitive, enter the verb or select it from the list.
You can use the character palette to insert special characters into the box. For more information on inserting characters for languages other than English, see Use the character palette.
- In the Select a category list, make a selection from a category's options menu.
The verb chart at the bottom of the window displays the verb and category option you selected. The correct verb form appears in blue next to each subjective pronoun.
For example, if you select "abrir" as the infinitive verb form and select "future" as the verb tense, you see "yo abriré" in the list at the bottom of the window.
- Click x in the top right corner of the window to close the verb chart.
The available categories and options you see depend on the language selected for your course.
