Today's View

Updated 19 Feb 2024

When you open a course, you may see the Today's View or an instructor notification page. This page provides an overview of all activity in a specific course. You have direct access to student activities and performance as well as any items that require your attention.

Across the top of the page are a row of buttons. Clicking a button shows the related student activity. For example, if you click the Activities Past Due button, you see which students have past due activities and which activities they are.

Students also have a Today's View page which provides a row of buttons. Some of their buttons are the same and some are different.

Available buttons for instructors include:

  • Activities to Grade
  • Late submissions
  • Activities past due
  • Activities not passed
  • Idle students
  • Unread comments
  • New Graded Activities
  • Unread Discussion Posts

Buttons for student include:

  • To Do Assignments
  • Completed Assignments
  • Unread comments
  • New Graded Activities
  • Unread Discussion Posts

You can arrange the order in which either set of buttons appear by clicking Customize and then selecting the Preferences tab.

Beneath the row of buttons on the Today's View page is a summary of overall performance in the course including:

  • The percentage of items graded (Course Grade)
  • The percentage of content completed
  • The average time spent in the course
  • The total time spent in the course

To see more detailed course and student performance data, click Detailed Performance. For more information about the detailed performance data, refer to Display performance information.

MyLab Languages instructors will also see an assignment calendar below the row of buttons on the Today's View page.
