Edit assets
Updated 19 Feb 2024
You can edit assets on the Course Materials pages to meet your needs.
On the Course Materials > Add from Library page, you can edit assets in both the Course Materials Library and My Course lists. On the Course Materials > Manage Course Materials page you can only edit assets that are available to your students.
Within a course, you can allow teaching assistants to create or edit course materials by changing permissions on the Preferences > Permissions page. (MyLab Languages)
Because the Course Materials Library is a repository of all available course materials and the My Course list is a subset of those materials, when you edit an asset, the changes are reflected in both lists. That is, if you edit an asset in the Course Materials Library list, if the asset already appears in the My Course list, edits are also saved to the asset in the My Course list. Similarly, when you edit an asset in the My Course list, the edits are saved to the asset in the Course Materials Library. However, this does not apply to folders, which can have different names based on the list in which they appear.
To create different versions of an asset, make a copy of the asset, rename the copy, and then edit it. For details, see Copy assets.
- Go to the Course Materials > Manage Course Materials page or to the Course Materials > Add from Library page.
- Select Edit from the options menu for the asset.
- Make the appropriate edits. The edits available to you depend on the type of asset you are editing. For details, see Create and edit course materials.
- Click Save.
