Search for questions

You can search for questions in the Question Bank while you create activities. In most MyLab Languages courses, you can access the Question Bank directly from the Course Materials or the > Additional Instructor Views > Manage Question Bank page.   1. Click Course Materials > Manage Question Bank or click Course Materials > Additional Instructor Views > Manage Question Bank.
  2. Click Search/View above the question list to display the Search toolbar.

  3. Enter your search term in the Search box.

    You can use search characters such as a wildcard (*) or double quotes (") to narrow the search criteria.

  4. (MyLab Languages) If available, use the VIEW BY menu to restrict the search. You can also use the VIEW BY menu after you complete the search to restrict which search results are displayed to you.

    • Select Table of Contents to search or display all available items.
    • Select Topics to search or display all items that have an associated topic.
    • Select Content Type to search all available items and to display search results by content type, such as activity, discussion, or file.

  5. Click GO or press the Enter key on your keyboard.

    Questions that match your search criteria appear.

To start a new search, enter another keyword and click GO or press Enter. To return to the Manage Question Bank page, click Clear Results.

Topic searches may not be available in all courses.

Use advanced search to define specific search criteria and restrict the search to certain folders or question types.

  1. Click Course Materials > Manage Question Bank or click Course Materials > Additional Instructor Views > Manage Question Library.
  2. Click Search/View above the question list to display the Search toolbar.
  3. Enter your search term in the Search box.

    You can use search characters such as a wildcard (*) or double quotes (") to narrow the search criteria.

  4. Click Advanced Search.
  5. Enter your search term in the for box.
  6. Use the other search criteria to restrict your search. Options are:
    • Search: Select the type of question data you want to search from the list.
    • In Folder: Select the specific folder you want to search, or select All to search in all available folders.
    • Use the checkboxes to narrow the search to only the question types you select. If a question type appears dimmed, your course does not include a question of that type.
    • Other: (MyLab IT only) Use the lists to narrow the search further, for example to search for questions authored by a certain person. The options available to you depend on the type of question metadata that is defined in your course.
  7. Click Search or press Enter to see questions that match your criteria.

To start a new search, enter another keyword and click GO or press Enter. To return to the Manage Question Bank page, click Clear Results.
